New in 2009

Our Airfare Guarantee

Not strictly “new” (we first did this in 2008), but refined for ‘09.... Interested in a trip, but afraid that the best high-season airfare you’ll be able to find will be stratospheric?  Sign up for our air fare guarantee, which will cap the price you pay at an affordable maximum.

Details are here.

Discount Eurostar Tickets from and to London

To help our UK riders reach their trips, we offer deeply discounted “Eurostar” tickets to jump the channel (as little as 49€ return).  Of course, this is of limited help if your trip starts in Salzburg, but it’s pretty useful if you are headed to the Loire!  Indeed, you can use it regardless of where your trip starts:  you simply buy ongoing tickets from Paris or Brussels separately (you must buy them through us, but we match any price).  See our information on reaching and leaving your trip for details.

This offer, only open to riders on our cycle trips, is temporary.  But as long as you see it on this page, it applies. Details are here.

Our Family-Friendly Trip

This year’s parent / children extravaganza is scheduled to happen in Btittany starting on July 5th. Three “founding familes” have joined so far, two with children on the younger end of things (5, 3, 3 and 1). And the third with “kids” ranging from 15 to... 25! We smell “babysitter.” We can still take two more: come and join us!

The web page is still under construction, but early details are here.

New Trips in Austria

Almost every year, one or another of our riders ask to do only a half of our traditional, 2-Week “Austrian Alps and the Danube” trip. Vacation times and dreams don’t always line up, we know.

So, in 2009, we will offer the two halves of the route separately for the first time: the Salzburgland, Salzkammergut and the Alps in one week, the Danube Valley and the Wachau in the other. We will also add a day of riding in the Wachau (and a night in Melk) to give this most beautiful region the attention it deserves. Web pages are here: Austrian Alps, Danube Valley.

Schedule Your Own Departure!
Guest-Initiated Trips
Pick Your Route, Pick Your Date

Not really new, but this was a terrific hit in 2008, when it was new (and it has already produced two ’09 departures): get five of your friends to go the same week you do, and schedule your own departure, on any of our routes! A minimum of six people can schedule a Blue Marble trip for whatever week they choose, while supplies (of coordinators, hotels, trains...) last. The trip will then be added to our schedule for the benefit of the great unwashed, adding an element of anticipation and excitement to what would otherwise be too much of a known quantity.... We already know you like adventure travel.

And, if you schedule your trip before November 30th of the prior year, you need only find three like-minded souls (4 total) to get it onto the program.

For details, follow the this link to our Guest-Initiated Trips page.

Training Partners

Why bike the route if you can make the same trip without the sweat and effort? If that sounds like someone you know, they may be interested in travelling with us anyway! Our "Training Partners" lodge, dine and see the same sights, but rather than riding a bike, they travel by train (or bus, or ferry, or whatever mode of motorized transportation gets them to where we are all going). No need to get into shape to do our trips anymore -- come eat, drink and sightsee with the rest of us without becoming saddlesore! :-)
