Meeting at the Gare Montparnasse

The Gare Montparnasse is located on the boarder of the 14th and 15th arrondissements in the south-central part of Paris.  The métro stop is called “Montparnasse Bienvenüe” and is served by lines 4, 6, 12 and 13.
Here is the facade of the station:

The bus stops “Gare Montparnasse” or "Montparnasse 2" are served by bus numbers 91, 92, 94, 95, 96.
Other busses, lines 28, 58, and 88 also stop nearby/at the station.

Montparnasse is actually comprised of two separate stations with two separate train platforms: the main station called Hall Pasteur (halls 1 & 2) and a second, smaller station called Vaugirard (hall 3).  For the purpose of our trips, we meet at the Hall Pasteur station.

Trips assemble inside the station, at the Point rencontre (meeting point), a blue pillar located toward the left end of the station (if outisde facing the front), near a café.  Here is what the Point de Rencontre looks like:

To get into the main station from the métro

  • Follow the Sortie (exit) signs towards the Grandes Lignes (main line trains), sometimes represented with pictures only, sometimes with pictures and words...

  • Walk up stairs/escalators until you reach the train level platforms.
  • Make your way to the Point rencontre (meeting point).  If you are coming from the metro, the meeting point will be up the stairs towards the right hand side of the station.

  • Hang here until the rest of the group and your friendly coordinator arrives. Enjoy a croissant and a coffee while you wait! :)

If on the rare occasion we are taking a train from Vaugirard (or you, yourself, have a personal trip to make) once you have exited the metro platforms and have made your way above ground, you would instead follow one of the many signs to the Vaugirard station.
