Meeting Your Trip in FRYNAUDOUR
2014

On this page, you will find information about meeting your trip in Frynaudour.  Topics include...

We suggest that you print these pages out, and bring a copy with you to your trip.

When and Where
:
We meet at the Frynaudour railway station, at 3:30p on the trip’s start date (corresponding to the rough arrival time of the train from Paris).  What to say about Frynaudour?  Nothing.  Why spoil the surprise?  Hopefully the opera festival won’t be on:  the crowds are intolerable.

Frynaudour is a stop on the Guingamp - Paimpol branch of French Railways’ main line to Brest, in western Brittany. It is a 4-hour trip from Paris, and you change trains in Guingamp to get the branch line train that brings you to your destination.

You will not have any trouble locating your Coordinator at the station.  He will be the thing that is not a cow, or a plant.

You will depart Frynaudour by bicycle.
You thus have the issue of changing into your cycle clothes.  If you are arriving from Paris by train on the trip departure morning, here is a hint:  the bathroom on the train is a better place to change than the station, since the station is a dirt platform, and there is no building there.

If you are having us move your luggage, know that it often simply stays on your train when you get off.  So you need to remove your sunscreen from it before you arrive in Frynaudour.  You will see it again tonight in Paimpol if you have one of our luggage transfer services.

Included in Your Access Package, if you subscribed to it:
A train ticket to Frynaudour, a seat reservation on any train which requires it, and a detailed timetable of the train for which you are reserved.

Travel Documents will be supplied by our Paris office (opening hours), unless you are arriving via a different route, in which case they will be sent to you at home, prior to your departure.  You will receive either a train ticket, or a railpass with accompanying explanation regarding its use, and a schedule for the train that you have reserved.

Getting to the Trip
From Paris
Trains from Paris to Guingamp (and thus on to Frynaudour) depart Montparnasse station.  If you would like our suggestions on getting to Montparnasse from the airport by public transit, they are here:

Airports to Gare Montparnasse

Trains from Paris require reservations.  You take a first train to Guingamp, and connect there for Frynaudour.  Your reservation card and / or schedule will make the timing clear.

Before boarding your train, be sure to “validate” (date stamp) your tickets and reservations (not necessary for a railpass), in the little yellow machine at the track gate.

We normally suggest the 11a train from Paris on Sunday morning, assuming that this tallies with your flight plans.  Later trains are available, but you miss the first day’s warm-up ride.

Paimpol, our destination, is a nice town, but you will hav time to get to know it, so there is no rush to get there.

The reservation we will provide you with will specify a car and seat number.

From Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport
If it happens to be compatible with your flight, there is a morning train from Charles de Gaulle airport to the Breton capital of Rennes, where you connect to the Guingamp-bound train, coming through from Paris.  In Guingamp, you connect again, to continue your route to Freynaudour.

Trains as far as Guingamp require reservations.  Your reservation card and / or schedule will make the timing clear.

Before boarding your train, be sure to “validate” (date stamp) your tickets and reservations (not necessary for a railpass), in the little yellow machine at the track gate.

Practical Information

Finding Your Hotel in Paimpol, Should you Arrive by Train
If your hotel is the Terres Neuvas, is a short walk from the station.  Exit the station and turn right.  Walk straight through the roundabout that you come to a block away, following the street signed for LE PORT.  A block further on, when you come to the water, your hotel is on your left hand.
