Meeting Your Trip in LAROCHE 2011
On this page, you will find information about meeting your trip. Topics include...
We suggest that you print these pages out, and bring a copy with you to your trip.
When and Where:
Our trip assembles at the railway junction of Laroche-Migennes. Two meetings are proposed, at 10a or 12n (corresponding to the arrival of express trains from Paris).
Other meeting times are available by prior arrangement only. If your flight times are not compatible with catching a 10:20a train from Paris, be sure to contact us well in advance of your trip departure.
Your Trip Coordinator (and the bikes) will travel to Burgundy on a train departing Paris at 8:20a. If you are coming from Paris (and most do for this trip), taking that train gets you an earlier start on the day, which is long and beautiful. The later train, departing Paris at 10:20a, is more compatible with jet lag, but less compatible with a long lunch break.
If you are “Riding the Bike Train” (have been deputized to help move the cycles), your Trip Coordinator will tell you which of the 8:20a or 10:20a train you are on. You will meet at our Paris office 1'20" before your designated train (so, at 7a for the 8:20a train, at 9a for the 10:20a train), and ride to the station with us. If you have a piece of luggage for transfer, you will leave it at our office, and find it tonight when you arrive at your hotel.
An important note concerning luggage:
if you are renting paniers from us, and riding the bike train, you will not have time to pack in the office on the departure morning. Please be sure to collect your cycle luggage the night before, at the latest.
You will depart Laroche by bicycle....
You thus have the issue of changing into your cycle clothes. You may as well face this before you meet your trip... it will have you on the bike all the sooner. Hint: the bathroom on the train is probably cleaner than the one in the Laroche station :-(
Special Case: meeting in Auxerre
If your trip is meeting in Auxerre instead of Laroche (you will know if this is the case), here is how to get to the Hotel Normandie from the Auxerre Station.
A long walk: we suggest a taxi. Otherwise, exit the station and continue down to the river, which you cross. Continue uphill to a traffic circle. The Hotel Normandie is on the opposite side of the circle, on the right.
Included in Your Access Package, if you subscribed to it:
A train ticket from Paris to Laroche, where we start our ride.
Travel Documents will be supplied by our Paris office (opening hours), unless you are arriving via a different route, in which case they will be sent to you at home, prior to your departure. You will receive either a train ticket, or a railpass with accompanying explanation regarding its use, and a schedule for the train that you have reserved.
If you are riding the bike train, your Coordinator will have your tickets.
