Green Spain

Green Spain – 2 weeks
France, Spain, & a bit of Portugal (Basque Country & Galicia)

On this page, you'll find...

This is a ride for the energetic:  the days are hilly, though shorter than the average for our trips.  But the nights are typically Spanish: relentless!

The title speaks volumes:  we follow the verdant north coast, along the Bay of Biscay and down the Miño Valley.  Temperate climates (the Atlantic generally keeps things pleasingly cool, even in summer), and lush, green scenery, frame our exploration of some of Europe’s wildest, least developed corners.  Daily fare is craggy coastline, cool forests and pounding surf — these are lands with a profound culinary & cultural link to the ocean.  Dine on mushrooms grilled with garlic, cider, fresh white wines and fresher fish.

Night spots beckon in a HOT series of towns – stock up on sleep before you get here (actually, you’ll be able to catch up some once you get to rural Galicia)....

¡Si, España!  You will also see bits of France and Portugal....

Concerning the variable end dates:  the first date for the May trip corresponds to the arrival of the trip in Vigo, at the end of biking, on Saturday.  The second is the end date if you tack on the one-day extenstion to Santiago de Compostela.  In that case you would leave the trip on Sunday.   Please see the post-trip Access Package for the costs of the add-on day.
